Biological Hazards

Offshore Support Services
utilizes a large-scale surface decontamination system with high durability and great efficiency in eliminating bacteria, mites, funguses, and viruses that provoke numerous pathologies. Experience has proved this to be the most durable and effective environmentally friendly system of sterilization and disinfection currently available in the world. We count on ecologically correct technology, proved internationally, to assure the health of the environment and the reduction of recurrent illnesses of micro biotic contamination.

With training and continuous improvement of processes, Offshore Support Services seeks to be allied in the combat of harmful agents that are the origin of illnesses, without causing damages to the health of man and the environment.

The consequences of the conviviality with these undesirable guests are many, and the most common are bronchitis, asthma, flu, bacterial pneumonia, tuberculosis, meningitis, sinusitis, hepatitis and herpes. These invisible parasitic enemies are in all different cloaks and parts. Pillows, walls, closets, pictures, nourishing supplies, floors, bathrooms, kitchens, little corners and wherever more is possible to be imagined – with most originating from the air ducting system.

Although our chemicals and technique does not cure AIDS, it is vitally important in the fight against the bacteria and fungi that are often implicated in primary pathologies, and in secondary diseases.  These microorganisms can be viciously opportunistic when attacking an already compromised immune system, and in many situations, death results from secondary complications and not from the primary disease.

The spread of bacteria and fungi is often facilitated by common every day occurrences and subtle means: through air conditioning systems, touching of public surfaces such as handrails, buttons in lifts, doors handles, etc.  The need to protect ourselves from bacteria and fungi is no longer an option, but a necessity.

A central theme of Offshore Support Services work has been to provide scientific information and analysis of samples for the resolution of environmental and health conflicts between deteriorating HVAC ventilation systems and the public or workers at large. This is what the business has become known as; an enterprise ensuring fresh, clean air that is free of fungi, spores, bacteria, fibres and other harmful foreign matter.

Providing clean fresh air to occupants is not so much about breathing the clean and pure air, but it is focused on the health and well being of those inhaling the very essence of life and its quality. We form part of that community and are proud to be associated with the process in promoting Clean Air.

HVAC & Ducting
Completely unaware of the bio-hazardous threat living in the ducting, the occupants of these closed communities breathe air they subconsciously believe to be fresh, clean and healthy air from the outside. Very few realize that a certain percentage of air is normally fed back into the HVAC system through the return air system. Although these microorganisms use the constant flowing air as their vehicle of travel to the lungs of the recipient, they proliferate and multiply to millions. Even where the unit does not have any air returning to the HVAC, the infiltration originated in the supply section of the ducting and is spread throughout. The explosion and gas proof construction on these offshore units create, together with the ventilation system, a perfect environment for harmful bio-hazardous organisms to become a very real threat to human health, sometimes deadly and with permanent damage; ducting is dark, moist, contains tangible foreign matter and re-circulates air throughout the structure.

With every person coming on board, more micro organisms are introduced from their hosts and released into the closed environment where they will infiltrate more hosts. Migrating birds rest on these units, often close to air intakes, vermin arrive on board with containers, cockroaches’ board with foodstuff and third party equipment. From these carriers the hazardous organisms are introduced into the central ducting system from where their individual cycle will live, reproduce and spread without
a hint of detection.
